We are three seniors from Stuyvesant and Brooklyn Tech who want to help students prepare for the SHSAT. We created Kangaroo Improvement Kamp to provide free SHSAT prep for low-income students. Our mission is to make test prep accessible for the many stuents and families who might not be able to pay for expensive, time-consuming tutoring.
We are eagerly awaiting the SHSAT results in March, but we already see success
in the opportunity both us and students had this summer!
We reached 42 and got to work with 21 students!
We brought more than half of our students on track to specialized high schools,
with 12 students consistently scoring 500+ and 5 students scoring 600+!
Our average score on practice tests improved from 447 to 542!

I was already doing a lot of prep before [joining this program]. I mostly did the private sessions
on discord. I learned a lot of things that I never looked at before, so it really helped me. After taking
the test, the english was a bit hard but I feel pretty confident (she said she thinks she got a 640). Overall,
